The Library has two levels in Building L. The Circulation Department, Checkout Desk, reserves, textbook loaning, the "Main" collection, copiers, newspapers and periodicals as well as study carrels and reading areas are all located on the lower level (1.5). The upper level (2.5) has reference librarians, reference materials and a computer lab with black and white and color printing, copying and scanning.
Circulating books located at other DCCCD campuses may also be borrowed. A student can order these by using the "request" button on the item screen in the Library Catalog.
Magazines and Newspapers
All magazines and newspapers are for use on the Circulation level only, please. Current issue of newspapers and magazines are on display for browsing. All back issues are available from the Circulation Desk. To request, please:
Present a completed Magazine Request Form available at the desk
A maximum of five items may be borrowed at one time
Fines are not charged when materials become overdue, however, a patron is automatically blocked from checking out additional materials until overdue items have been returned. This "block" on the student's record affects registration, as well as transcript requests. Please return all items by due dates.
Black and white/color printers are located in the Reference area on Level 2.5, by the computers.
The librarian on duty can help you with research questions, the pay-for-print system, software, bibliography questions and more.
Books may be renewed (one time) if a book has no current "holds," meaning it is not reserved for another person and if the student or patron is not blocked for overdue items. Renewals can be done in person at the Circulation Desk or by clicking on Sign In (top right corner) on the Library Catalog.
You may check out one item at a time with a photo ID. Two types of reserve materials are available for use in the library:
Materials placed on reserve by instructors are located at the Circulation Desk.
Books on permanent reserve are shelved by call number in the main collection.
Restrooms are available on Level 1 and Level 3 outside the library proper. Both are ADA accessible.
Quiet, individual study areas can be found in Rooms L206 and L207. Study carrels are on level 1.5 circulation. Group study can be found on Level 1, Level 3, on Level 2.5 and in Room L376 (when available).
A stapler, three-hole punch and electric pencil sharpener are located at the west end of the Circulation Desk level 1.5 and on the Reference, level 2.5.
VCR and DVD Players
Students may view videos on Level 1.5. DVDs can also be viewed on the computers on Level 2.5.
